September 12, Hw #2 , Writing Process "Web Links"
After checking out different web links from MyCompLab "The writing Process" I noticed some of the processes that I have used, mainly from academics. The web sites were all user friendly and will be a great reference for future writing projects. The ones that I felt were of importance were prewriting/outlining, drafting, and proofreading.
Prewriting is a process that is important by helping you find a topic and main ideas to write about. Freewriting is something that is effective for me. I have a hard time getting my thoughts down on paper. I think that I am concerned so much about my spelling, sentence structure, and paragraph structure in the early stages of writing that I lose my train of thought. Freewriting allows for me to just write. I'm not concerned about how it all looks, I just get all my thoughts out and go back and correct the structure later on. Mind mapping is also apart of the prewriting process that I fell is important. In past academic writing assignments when given the opportunity to write about a topic of choice mind mapping really has been helpful. When I think that I may have a good topic to write about I list all the ideas that can support that topic. Some topics may not have enough material to write about. You can find out early if that topic is a good choice.
Drafting allows for you to pull from your topic and main ideas from your prewriting process and formulate the layout of your paper. First paragraph including you main topic or thesis of the paper followed by paragraphs that clearly state the main ideas supporting it.
Proofreading is also an important process. Having others read you writing is important. They may see things that you cannot. They may also have other ideas on how you can be more effective in your communication.
All of the different processes from the web pages are effective. I really didn't feel that any were of less importance.
